Baroda Manipal School of Banking is set up jointly by Bank of Baroda and Manipal University. This school is set up at Bangalore in 2011. It is set up to serve the banking needs of the Bank of Baroda. It is good opportunity for young graduates who want to make their foray into banking. It offers postgraduate diploma in Banking and after the completion of this course, students will be directly absorbed into Bank of Baroda as probationary officers in the Bank in JMG/S-I. This is first of its kind course in the public Sector banking in India. Federal bank, old generation private bank in India has also started similar school with manipal university for absorbing probationary officers. The students are selected through a tough selection process and are provided systematic training in all aspects of Banking and management areas in order to make them future Bankers by the time they complete the course. The aim of the training is to induct core and day to day knowledge on general management and focus on knowledge in Banking related topics and subjects. Students are put through a tight on-campus curriculum for over 9 months and three trimesters which provides application of knowledge and overall development of personality. In addition to Training at the school students will be equipped with practical training in Various Branches of Bank of Baroda through a focused 3-month internship period. Some important features of this one-year programme are: The programme has mixed curriculum with classroom, e-learning and internship. It imparts knowledge and skills in core banking, specialized areas in banking besides managerial skills, etiquette, grooming and language skills. The classroom sessions (9 months, trimester pattern) is conducted at the Baroda Manipal school of Banking and internship (3 months) at any Bank of Baroda branch or office (within India). The students are paid a stipend amount every month for the entire 12-month duration of the programme in order to meet their out of pocket expenses and their living expenses. The students will get assured employment with Bank of Baroda on successful completion of the programme. Bank of Baroda provides full financing of the programme fees on very concessional terms to all students. The entire fees as well as an additional amount covering the total loan amount as well as interest thereon reimbursed by the Bank progressively after completion of certain number of years with the Bank as “loyalty bonus”.
